  1. Is this a great work of art/performance/installation?
or is it a profound waste of time and money?
Is Pierre Huyghe a great artist or was he in the right place at the right time?
Will this be remembered in fifty years?
I guess if enough collectors, gallerists and critics say “it’s great” then it is….or is it?

  2. Those are all good and valid questions, to which i may not have real answers to. But i am interested in the technique Pierre Huyghe uses in works–staging, documentation, re-staging and collaboration. Some past works of his, like, Blanche Neige Lucie, 1997 and The Third Memory, 1999 are very fascinating to me. His Les Grands Ensembles, 2001 is another work, that I find to successfully use techniques and concerns of new media, like narrative structures.
As far as longevity, we all hope our works have some relevance to another, beyond our lifetime. And hope outside of the machinery of the art world(publicity, value, CV, etc.), a genuine connection, between the artist-dead or alive, work and an art viewer, will be made.
