some links

I am a reluctant airbnb user; article on how they became overdominant in Barcelona; fairbnb.coop is the right idea; via newyorker.

Spinning Mill by Legna Rodríguez Iglesias, translated from the Spanish by Katerina Gonzalez Seligmann, Bilingual edition; Cardboard House Press.

Filthy, upcoming comic.

Bertlatsky’s appreciation for The Devil Finds Works. (2014) Baldwin’s and/or great criticism inspire readings in a work.

Wilentz on Notre Dame de l’Assomption (1883-2010). Good overlay of Haiti’s economic history; dubious of spaghetti sandwiches as indicator; not enough an appreciation of Haiti’s internationalism or its politics; the first black republic, and for that matter all republics, gets to determine how to fail its citizens(political infighting vs education).

The Golden Fantasy, solo exhibition by Oneika Russell at New Local Space, opens May 4th.

On the Media on May Day, begins at 36:21.

The figures in my images do not develop from already existing comic characters, but develop as random data. In this context, an obsessive, not clearly definable language is important. A language, which takes the dynamics of our cultural memory on board and therefore defies any final interpretation.

Chaos is a ladder

Ramin Djawadi – Game Of Thrones: Season 3 (Music from the HBO Series)

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some, are given a chance to climb. They refuse, they cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.” Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish, GoT S03E06

An interview with Other Suns

Amirah Mercer interviewed me, for her new venture– Other Suns, concerned with the aesthetics in black culture. Here is the article.

One definition of heaven is a place of utmost happiness, something enjoyable and pleasant. If you had heaven here on Earth, in this very moment, would you even recognize it? Because you do—we all do—have access to creating utopia in our everyday lives. For proof, look no further than the photography and collages of Miami-based artist Adler Guerrier.
